Great job gang and thank you so much for giving up your precious Saturdays just to come to practice! How long have we been practicing? 3 months? 4 months? Yet you guys were sho AwEsomE!!! We played as if we've been practicing for quite a while. Seriously, I think we've made some impression out there. While marching I saw people smiling, dancing, and clapping to our beats. I believe we all have our little stories to tell about what happened during the event. I want to share my story with you.
The parade had started; I'm was excited and little bit nervous. We're marching and BOOM! I step on the Red Carpet and wowww, it was sooooo sofftttt. Then I start smelling horses leavings and I wanted to make a frown but there were cameras filming and I had no choice but to smile T__T (It was terrible) I made sure constantly that I was at least grinning and when I stepped out the carpet I was like, "darn it..." Few minutes later I happened to step on horse dung :( Because it was a cold day, I guess the #2 became all hard cause when I stepped on it, it went like "CruNcH! cRUnCh! CrUnCH!" Also, I started to feel slight pain when we too our 1st right turn. I ignored it; however, it went up to the point where I just wanted to give up and sit down. Not only that, I played the 꽹가리, so my left index finger felt like it was going to come off. (I feel like I'm just complaining here) I'm pretty sure EVERYONE noticed the delicious and the beautiful smell of food ~0~ I smelled and I was like "Ohhh myyyy....so....hungry......"
Well that's all I'm going to say, I might accidently fill up half of the blog with my story. If you also feel like sharing your stories, Please Do! I was sort of in the front playing the 꽹가리 so I'm guessing few part of our stories would be different. 할리웃 퍼레이드 참가한 사물놀이 [koreatimes]

2011 할리웃 크리스마스 퍼레이드가 27일 할리웃 거리에서 성대하게 펼쳐졌다. 이날 퍼레이드에는 재미한인자원봉사자회(PAVA) 산하 주니어 사물놀이 팀과 한국 전통무용단이 참가, 흥겹고 화려한 한국문화를 주류사회에 소개했다. 전통의상을 입은 청소년 단원들이 행진하고 있다.

한인 학생들 '첫 크리스마스 퍼레이드' [LA중앙일보]

27일 오후 6시 할리우드 일대에서 열린 크리스마스 퍼레이드에 처음으로 참가한 파바주니어 학생 180여명이 한국의 아름다움을 뽐내고 있다. 이날 퍼레이드에는 사물놀이 고전무용 등을 비롯해 궁중의상을 입은 관악기 그룹과 취타대 등으로 나눠 차이니스 극장이 있는 하일랜드부터 할리우드 불러바드 구간 3.6마일을 행진하며 시민들로부터 박수갈채를 받았다.

LA River Clean Up at Sunnynook Footbridge

HOLLYWOOD CLEAN UP

Saturday 27th of August, All of Pava Jr. and Pava Parents from each District cleaned the neighborhoods of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The cleanup started around 8:30AM and ended approximately 11:30AM. Thank you all for coming out there even though it was really HOT! We appreciate all the hard work you've given and for your service to this event.

산악인 엄홍길씨의 LA시 방문을 환영하는 '엄홍길의 날' 선포식이 15일 LA 시의회에서 진행됬다. 탐 라본지 시의원의 주도로 제정된 '엄홍길의 날'선포식에서 엄씨는 "이렇게 큰 환영을

받게 돼 감격스럽다. 마치 에베레스트 산 고지를 정복했을 때와 휴머 재단을 설립했을 때의 기쁨과 같다." 며 "앞으로고 엄홍길 휴먼재단 LA지부를 통해 LA 시와 우호관계를 맺어가겠다"고 강조 했아.특히 "재단의 설립 취지대로 LA 지부가 사람과 자연에 사랑을 베풀고 보호하는 정신을 알리고 지역 청소년들에게 도전 정신과 기상을 기르는 데 앞장서주길 기대한다"고 말했고 16일 토요일 오전 7시에는 PAVA Jr회원들과 학부모와 함께 그리피스 파크 남산 노스코스를 하이킹 했으며 , 당일 오후 2시에는 윌셔아트센터 (구 엠팍극장)에서 '극한 리더싶' 강연을 하여 우리 PAVA 회원들도 많은 인원이 참석하여 함께 등반을 도왔던 사람들을 잃는 슬픔과 동상으로 인한 고통에도 굴하지 않고 자연을 정복하는 한국을 빛낸 그 모습그대로의 투지와 소박한 그의 삶도 느낄 수 있는 좋은 시간이 되었다. 훗날 이 땅의 리더가 되어 있을 우리 PAVA Jr 들에게 간접적으로 나마 인간 승리의 경험을 느끼게 할 수 있었으리라 생각한다.

FTA 인준 운동에 동참바랍니다.

"FTA"라는 말은 free trade agreement 약자로써
현재 미국이나 한국 정부의 화두는 "FTA" 국회 인준입니다.

한미 FTA 국회 인준은 한국과 미국 간의 협정을 맺으면 무관세나 낮은 관세를 적용하여 한미 두 나라 간의 교류가 확대되며 양국간 경제성장의 도약을 마련하기 위해 하는 것입니다.

한국은 8월 국회에서, 미국 역시 조속히 국회 인준을 얻어내기 위해서 애를 쓰고 있습니다.

이미 PAVA는 인준을 위한 운동에 동참하기로 결정하였고,
지난 주에 이미 중앙일보를 통해서 "PAVA Jr. 학생들 역시 FTA 인준에 나섰다"고 보도되었습니다.

뜻을 같이 하고 싶으신 학부모와 8지부 회원분들의
많은 동참 바랍니다.

7월 20일까지 마감입니다.

1) 보내드린 102명의 의원 주소가 적힌 우편 봉투에
학생의 서명이 들어간 편지를 넣고
우표를 붙여서 지부장에게 가져다 주세요.

2) 집이나 FAX를 사용하실 수 있는 가정은 연방의원들 주소에 나온 팩스 번호로 fax를 보내시면 되며, 꼭 report 기록을 종이로 프린트해서 지부장에게 가져다 주세요.
* Fax가 안 들어가진 의원 주소는 따로
우편봉투를 만들어서 같이 지부장에게 주시면 됩니다.

"FTA" is an acronym that stands for ‘Free Trade Agreement.’
It is the current buzzword in the United States and South Koreawhen the "FTA" Parliament was confirmed.

Korea and some members of Congress proposed a unique FTA agreement between the countries of Korea and the United States. The agreement was to apply low or no tariffs during trade exchange between the two countries. The lack of tariffs will drop prices and mass consumer interest will raise the economic growth between both countries.

The National Assembly in South Korea wishes to pass the FTA by August of 2011 and hopes to persuade the United States’ National Assembly by then.

PAVA has already endorsed the campaign and has decided to join in.
Last week, already through the JoongAng Newspaper wrote, "PAVA Jr. Students have started to ratify the proposed FTA."
The deadline to help is July 20^th. In order to help the progress of the FTA please do the following steps:

1) There are 102 members address listed in this paper.
Members of 4^th district should have received an e-mail that has a template letter to send. Print out 102 copies and sign these letters.

Put these letters in an envelope, with the stamp already on them, with your name and address as well as the name and address of the 102 members listed.

2) Or you can fax the 102 members, with the template letter e-mail (please include your signature). Please print out the proof that you had faxed all 102 members. If by any chance the fax does not go through, for any reasons whatsoever, then please sign the template letter and address it to the said individuals in a mail (which means that if the fax did not go through to a person, sign an individual letter for this person). Give the printed proof and the letters to the district captain.
